Sebago Docksides gained popularity in the 1970’s but have been constructing quality footwear since as far back as 1946. Founders Daniel J. Wellehan, Sr., William Beaudoin and Joseph Cordeau took a heavy influence from Indian moccasins, to create their first shoe, the hand-sewn penny loafer and went on to pioneer what has now become the company’s patent welt construction.
The 1980’s saw Sebago’s profile soar as the signature Docksides took over American campuses and Sebago eventually became the official supplier for the US yatching team! And the company hasn’t looked back since. Sebago still prides itself on heritage roots, with many lines still traditionally hand-sewn to produce the authentic, classic article.
